Capsicum annuum

This gorgeous pepper is an African-American heirloom that wise widely grown in the Philadelphia and Baltimore area in the late 1800s. Beautiful white and green varigated leaves and striped fruits make this a stunning landscape or potted plant that is also absolutely delicious. Pair with pineapple or lime to create a wonderful contrast with the heat of the peppers. A Slow Food Arc of Taste pepper.

Mother Earth News has a wonderful article written by William Woys Weaver from who donated these seeds to Seed Savers Exchange many years ago, from his grandfather's collection. I strongly recommend reading the entire article - what a wonderful and fascinating story.
